What Shift Overlap does and does not collect: no accounts, no analytics cookies, no data leaving your browser — and what changes when advertising is switched on.
What this site does not collect
There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no email capture and no contact form. The cities, dates and working hours you enter are used to compute the answer inside your browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no analytics product on this site, and no analytics cookie.
What is stored in your browser
One value: your light or dark mode preference, in localStorage under the key theme. It never leaves your device and deleting it costs you nothing. The cities you choose are placed in the page URL so the link can be shared — that is part of the address, not something stored on our side.
Hosting records
The site is served as static files by Cloudflare, which — like any web host — processes request data such as your IP address and user agent to deliver the page and to defend against abuse. That processing happens on Cloudflare's infrastructure, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Advertising and cookies
This site is intended to carry advertising, which is what pays for the hosting. At the time of writing this page, advertising is not yet switched on — and the section below describes what applies once it is.
When advertising is enabled it is served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to select and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time through Google's Ads Settings, review how Google uses data in Google's partner-sites notice, and review or block cookies in your browser settings.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent notice before any advertising cookie is set, and may decline personalised advertising. Whatever your choice, the calculator keeps working — the tool does not depend on any cookie.
Children
This site is a workplace scheduling tool and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
